Ivory-clad sand beaches stretch while coconut palm leaves sway welcoming every ardent peace-loving vagabond or frequent bystander along the silence-stricken shorelines of san remigio. I am always fascinated by the enigma engulfing endlessly between me and the sea. There is that inevitable attraction that ceaselessly brings me to the shores while my cares swerve adrift. Children picking up shells or notched sand dollars remind me of my peurile self toying with hermit crabs and jellyfishes - an unforgettable yesterday of cracking sea urchins as viand over a slab of leftover cooked rice delighting me and my grandmother.
These days, young people swarm to this place looking for a place to unwind or whine up. With closest pals along, the experience is life unimaginable with never ending fun with clinking glasses or bottles or yakking all night long.
And if, you can't hear any of those faint sounds day and night, quietude is best experienced while listening to the ebbing waves or love-caling of the crickets. The moon on high illumines the nooks and somehow reveals lovers cuddling.
There goes, then, the irony. In a place where you expect not to hear any mumble or hustle, where you almost thought existence is hard to manifest because of its silence - san remigio lurkingly tongue-tied, threshes out innumerable fun and excitement despite its quietude.
We just go there - to feel the breeze, to stroll, to live.
